Approach

How can we help you?

We help schools, school systems, and non-profit organizations solve their instructional and leaderhips challenges.

  • Increase equity, access, and achievement of students enrolled in rigorous courses such as GT, honors, and Advanced Placement.
  • Increase rigor in the classroom and helping more students access that rigor.
  • Apply effective differentiation strategies so that ALL your students can meet or exceed the standards.
  • Create practical professional development sessions that are immediately useful in the classroom.
  • Plan lessons that both support struggling students and challenge gifted students without increasing your workload.
  • Plan effective "critical conversations" with your teaching staff to help them improve the quality of their instructional and professional practice.
  • Develop the capacity of your current staff to support underprepared students in high-level courses such as GT, honors, pre-AP, and AP.
  • Create professional learning communities around differentiated instruction.
  • Backmap your curriculum from the AP test, create vertical teams and develop a school-wide curricular scope and sequence.
  • Establish and grow an equitable AP program.
  • Establish a college-going culture in your school.
  • Align your professional development practices with your school goals.

We don't just come in with a canned approach. We develop a partnership with the school and involve you in solving your own problems. As a result, you are better invested in whatever approach we take and it is sustainable once we leave.

How do we work with you?

Working with us is different than working with most educational consulting firms because we don't sell a product, method, technique, or off-the-shelf solution. Instead, we help you develop your own unique solution that fits your own unique situation.

1. We Listen. Before we offer any solutions, the first thing we do is listen. We don't swoop in with the answers; instead, we focus on asking the right questions -- the ones no one else is asking. That way, we clearly understand your situation before we suggest solutions. When we're done, we'll both have a clear picture of what isn't working.

2. We Diagnose. Once we understand your situation and have clearly articulated the problem, we will help you diagnose the source of your problems. This is a lot harder than it sounds. Most of the "problems" you see are really just the symptoms. Our diagnostic tools will help us get to the root of the problem and identify what barriers are keeping you from being where you want to be. When we're finished, you'll know exactly why things aren't working as well as you want them to.

3. We help you Develop an Action Plan that will help you resolve your challenges. This action plan will help you remove your internal barriers, identify what resources you already have that will help you solve your problem, and identify what external resources you need. When we're done, you'll know what to do, why to do it, when to do it, and how to tell if it is working.

4. We help you Monitor the Plan to make sure that it is working. We don't want you to make a significant investment of time and resources only to find out years down the road that it didn't make a difference in your students' achievement. That's why we build in tools to monitor the effectiveness of our interventions and to make adjustments in the midst of the process. It's the only way we can tell how well we are meeting your needs.

What does it cost?

We believe that you should not have to make an investment decision every time you need our assistance as we work together on a project so we typically offer a flat rate rather than an hourly fee. This is a unique feature of our approach.

Because we don't sell a canned "solution," the cost will be as unique as the solution we help you develop. Following our initial conversation, we will send you a written proposal usually within 36 hours. The proposal will contain several pricing options from which you can choose based on our conversation.
